It is quite common for teenagers to experience spiritual and energetic activations that can mimic or coincide with mental illness such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. In many cultures outside the Western world these conditions are viewed as gifts rather than disorders. Girls in other parts of the world are taught how to harness and cultivate their gifts so they can use them to support their own growth and the development of others in their community.
This 1-Day Retreat is designed for to bring together like-mind teenage girls who have (or suspect they have) experienced the gifts of hearing voices, seeing spirits, empathy, accessing past lives, reading thoughts, seeing the future, and much more.
We will be introducing a variety of contemplative techniques that can be used to help understand and integrate such experiences in a way that the girls can manage and control them in the future. They will learn how to practice yoga, meditation, clearing, and protection techniques to empower them to shift out uncomfortable energies but also how to communicate and ask for help when needed in a more effective way. We will teach them how to release the fear around what they are experiencing and show them how they can control the situation for themselves.
The intention of this 1-Day Retreat is to offer the girls complementary practices to support their current medical regime as well as establish a peer support community to help normalize their experience. We DO NOT make any recommendations regarding medication or other therapies they may be utilizing.

Retreat Leader: Jennifer Kavanagh
This retreat is led by Jennifer Kavanagh, the owner and founder of Pura Vida Soul Institute Inc. During her work as a PhD student with Walden University she studied both the positive and negative effects of spiritual awakening and developed a keen interest in helping others integrate their spiritual experiences. As an intuitive from a young age, Jennifer navigated her way through the challenges of mood instabilities and interpretation of inexplainable spiritual experiences. She has since mentored and coached many young women suffering from diagnosed mental illness by walking along side them through the scary and positive experiences. She acts as a witness to their experiences and provides real-time advice on how to manage the unseen.
Jennifer has been teaching yoga and meditation for 7 years and has studied varied spiritual techniques with teachers around the world. She is currently a member of the Graces Women’s Council with Guru Jagat and Ra Ma Institute in California. Jennifer is the mother of two young daughters herself and has a keen interest in helping all of our daughters become the strong, courageous, independent women they are meant to be.
